Hajdúböszörmény is a characteristic town of Hungary, particularly of the north-east part of the Alföld (Great Hungarian Plain). It has a significant historical past. Its worldwide known classical radial-belt settlement structure is the most precious monument of the town. It was built by demands of the defense system. In the centre of the city there is a protestant church with cathedral dimensions. It was rebuilt in romantic style on its earlier gothic bases. This church and the Bocskai István Grammar-school, which was also built following the spirit of the Hungarian romanticism, determine the architectural character of the square. The oldest secular public building of the county can be found on the south side of the square. It was the Residence of Hajdú District, nowadays there is a museum in the building. The town accommodates three secondary schools, the college faculty of Debrecen University, and the biggest museum of the Hajdú Region. Its international artist camp is known all over Central Europe, its galleries, its summer program, called Hajdú Week are known and frequented by many people. There are many small and medium-sized enterprises, agricultural factories and service companies running in our town. The medicinal thermal springs, the excellent cuisines of the restaurants in the town are counted as significant attractions on tourism.

The association was established in Hajdúböszörmény, in the autumn of 1991. In our activities we mainly focus on nature conservation, environmental protection and environmental education – with colourful programs for children and adults as well, like awareness raising playful activities and summer camps. Since 1994 we own a campsite on the bank of the Bodrog river, in the municipality of Bodrogolaszi. The campsite provides splendid recreational opportunities for bigger gropus and for families as well. Those who visit our campsite can choose between conservationalist, herbal, fungal and fishing camps. In every summer student groups spend one week there to have a passion for painting and artist activities. The campsite also serves as water tour basis that offers unique opportunities for those who love water sports: one or several days-long kayak-canoe trips along the whole lenght river or „star-tours” along the Hungarian part of the river can be done, according to personnel requirements. In every year we organize various programs in the „green days”, such as Earth Day (April 22), Birds and Trees Day (May 10) and Car-free Day (September 22), mainly in the town of Hajdúböszörmény. Environmental counseling service, eco-playful activities, do-it-yourself workshops are part of our available program elements in these commemorative days. We organize hikings for groups, and we offer preferential application fees for achievement tours in Hungary and abroad.
